Join Madame Truffles for a free event on Sunday 30 August for the Truffle Toastie battle of a lifetime. Head chefs from 4 of Melbourne's Top Cafes - Brook Petrie (Auction Rooms), Jesse McTavish (Kettle Black), Chris Hamburger (StagerLee's) and Andy Gale (St Ali) - will battle it out to win the coveted Truffle Toastie Trophy; the Truffy.
The rules are simple: Each chef will be given 15g of fresh black truffle from Madame Truffles, bread from Chirico & one type of cheese (chef's choice) from Curds & Whey. Each chef can choose up to 3 more ingredients to add to their toastie but they must NOT use truffle oil.
This Inaugural event will be hosted Hilary McNevin, food writer, radio presenter and author.
The judging panel will include Sara Hinchey (aka the Truffle Hound) and Jackie Middleton (Earl Canteen) who will taste each toastie to decide the winner.
The winning cafe can hold onto the Truffy...until the next championship.
Truffle toasties will be available to taste...and judge on the day.
